Let's say one of your children walks in right now with a leaf in his mouth, and you're worried the plant might be poisonous. What number would you call to identify the plant? Thanks to a new federal program, the number to call for poison control is getting more convenient.
"You can always talk to a person. You can get advice -- so all you need to know is one simple number. If you go to visit grandma, you've got the number," says Kae Hentges, health education specialist.
The number to call anywhere in the state of Texas is 1-800-222-1222. Soon, that will be the magic number anywhere in the country to get information from poison control experts.
