A Lubbock man is now charged with two counts of animal cruelty in connection with the beating death of an 8-week-old Dachshund puppy earlier this month.
Tyson Mullins, 22, is accused of striking his girlfriend's dog at Savannah Oaks Apartments on 50th, west of Slide Road.
A neighbor heard loud noises and squeals, and then called police. In the police report, an officer claims that Mullins says he "hit the dog as hard as he would a grown man" because it urinated on his pillow.
