They knew what computers they were using, now more than a dozen record companies have permission to find out which Lubbock residents have been illegally downloading and distributing music.
On Wednesday, NewsChannel 11 told you recording companies like Arista, BMG and Capitol Records were suing at least five Lubbock residents. They had identified five unique internet addresses that had reportedly downloaded copyrighted songs.
On Thursday, the judge gave the companies permission to obtain the identity of those users.
