Dozens Line Up for the iPhone in Lubbock

From coast to coast, there are huge crowds and high expectations for the sale of the iPhone.

It is going to be the best phone in the world," says Kevin Tolson, first in line in Arlington, VA. "It's going to revolutionize the way we communicate."

It can be used to browse the web, send and receive emails, look at pictures, watch movies, not to mention - make calls.

The 4G iPhone sells for $499, or you can double the memory at $599.

AT&T is the sole carrier for the iPhone at this time. and the cheapest plan is $59.99 for 450 minutes with a two year commitment. For $79.99 you can talk for 900 minutes. The top of the line plan is 1350 minutes. All three offer 200 text messaages, unlimited data service, rollover minutes, mobile to mobile calls.

Despite the price tag, some were willing to camp out for days. And Lubbock is no exception. With only one AT&T store in town at 82nd and Slide, the line began forming early. Ed Bertram is first in line, having arrived at around 6 p.m. Thursday. Twenty-four hours later, he expects to have the iPhone in hand.

AT&T managers tell NewsChannel 11 that they will have a "healthy amount" of phones in stock.
