Pair of Fires Keep Local Firefighters Busy Overnight

Two seperate house fires kept local and area firefighters overnight.

First, the Lubbock Fire Department responded to a mattress fire in the 500 block of 78th Street. A house full of smoke forced residents outside shortly after midnight. Firefighters pulled a smoldering mattress from the home, and extinguished the fire.

Minutes later, firefighters responded to an abandoned home in the 7400 block of County Road 6140, just east of Shallowater. They found the home fully engulfed in flames. It took firefighters several hours to put out the blaze. There is no word on what caused the fire. For Your Mobile Devices
