For the second consecutive day, Xcel Energy is issuing a conservation alert to its customers. Xcel Energy is asking that its customers conserve energy until 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
The power company expects a high demand today. The demand in combination with some storm damage and maintenance repairs, the company has limited supply so that's why they are asking customers to conserve.
Xcel urges customers to limit power use through 7 p.m. Tuesday night in order to reduce the strain on the power grid. People can help deter power emergencies by:
- Turning off unneeded lights, computers and appliances.
- Setting the thermostat to 78 degrees or higher at home.
- Turning up the thermostat to 85 degrees before leaving home.
- Using major appliances and equipment after 7 p.m., when power demand is lower.
