The Fourth of July is just one day away and crews have been busy preparing for the 4th on Broadway festivities. NewsChannel 11's Nicole Pesecky tells us what we can expect downtown to be like this year.
You can expect to see stars and stripes funnel down Broadway as nearly 100 floats will cruise by. This year's celebration will feature nearly 60 vendors and 70 to 80 music acts. They will have 9 stages with a different band every hour.
Tuesday was been a day of preparation as hundreds came together to put the finishing touches on the city festivities. And if you need to know where the best place to park for the parade and street festival, we've got the answer.
Captain Shavers with the LPD says, "Park on 13th Street, park on Main Street, park either north or south of Broadway and walk in and get a good spot."
Organizers are expecting over 100,000 people for festivities during the day and after the parade, they'll make their way down to Mackenzie Park for the evening concert. After the music ends, the fireworks begin. Following the fireworks display, traffic can get a little congested, so police say Citibus is the quickest way to go.
Coordinator of music, Don Caldwell explains, "There's absolutely nothing more beautiful than being in this park on a cool summer evening. And listening to music and celebrating our country's freedom and fireworks. It just doesn't get any better." But remember one thing, be sure and bring your bug spray.
