Gun Left In Road Is Apparent Trigger For Traffic Accident - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A gun was apparently the trigger for an afternoon traffic accident in South Lubbock County.

Authorities were called to Highway 87 and 98th street to pick up a gun that was in the middle of the highway. Deputies blocked off the lane while they retrieved the gun and ammunition. That's when a woman slammed into the back of a deputy's vehicle that was parked with its lights on.

The officer was not in the car and was not injured. As for the gun, deputies are investigating whether or not it was used in a crime.
