Family of Lubbock Woman Killed in Crash Needs Help with Funeral Expenses

A fund has been established to help a Lubbock family pay for funeral expenses. This comes days after their loved one was killed in a crash in which the driver is suspected of being under the influence of drugs.

Monica Martinez, 23, was riding in this Pontiac Sunfire, Tuesday night, when she was killed in Northeast Lubbock County. Another passenger, Sean Ware, 24, remains in critical condition at UMC.

The driver, Hardy Ware, 19, was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Possible charges of intoxicated manslaughter and assault are pending the results of a blood-alcohol test.

Martinez's family still needs $3,000 to pay funeral expenses.

Martinez is the youngest of five siblings, and her family says they would like to give her a proper goodbye.

Priscila Prado is Martinez's sister-in-law and says, "She was very fun to be around and very happy and very outgoing and very beautiful, never let anybody down, just so beautiful."

Donations can be made under the Monica Martinez Memorial Fund at Plains Capital Bank. For Your Mobile Devices
