Tommy Yugovich, 23, was nearly beaten to death just four months ago during a home invasion. After the assault Tommy fell into a coma, one that doctors didn't think he would wake up from. A month later Tommy awoke with a new look at life, along with a lot of medical bills.
Sunday friends and family did what they could to help by hosting an event affectionately named TommyFest.
The event included 24 bands, 4 vendors, a silent auction and dozens of friends and loved ones showing their support for 12 straight hours. That's the recipe for TommyFest.
Back in March, Tommy and his girlfriend Michelle were attacked with lead pipes during a home invasion. Michelle jumped in between the attacker and Tommy, but Tommy was severely beaten in the head sending him into a coma.
Tommy has made a lot of progress since the attack. He can walk and is beginning to talk. But his quickest way to communicate is by putting his thoughts down on paper, but his progress comes at a price. Tommy owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills.
Tommy's girlfriend Michelle explains, "He's having to go through a lot of rehab and has to be watched because he's very unstable."
But there is one stable thing Tommy can rest in, the love of his family and friends.
As for the home invasion incident four people have since been indicted in connection with that robbery.
