Investigators Search for Weapon Allegedly Used in Homicide

Tuesday afternoon, crews spent hours searching for the murder weapon in a southwest playa lake at Jennings Park, near 82nd and Slide.

Lt. Rodney Westfall, with the Lubbock Fire Department, says investigators had good reason to believe the weapon was in that area.

"The guy that allegedly did the deed, said he threw the weapon in that particular area and that's why we searched it," he says.

Authorities say they were looking for a knife with a four to five inch blade. They used large magnets to try to pick the weapon up, but say their search turned up nothing.
