Chris Angerer, a 21-year veteran of the Lubbock Fire Department, has been named Deputy Chief of Operations.
He fills the position left vacant after Rhea Cooper was appointed Fire Chief.
Angerer previously served as Training Chief for the Lubbock Fire Department. He has extensive management experience in fire, emergency medial and airport rescue fire fighting operations. He also has served as the Fire Technology Program Coordinator for South Plains College.
In his new position, Angerer is responsible for emergency operations.
He is a graduate of Texas Tech University and completed the four-year Executive Fire Officer's Program at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
In 2001, Angerer was named Lubbock's Fire Fighter of the Year, and in 2005, he was named Texas Training Officer of the Year by the Texas Association of Fire Educators.
A reception in his honor will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, July 20 at the Fire Training Academy, 1515 E. Ursuline Street.
