New Stop Signs & Traffic Lights Near New Lubbock Elementaries

In an effort to make Lubbock's newest elementaries safer, the Citizens Traffic Commission have approved several new traffic signs and signals.

The commission approved three changes near Roy R. Roberts Elementary on Tuesday:

  • 79th & Avenue P - all way stop sign.
  • 81st & Avenue O - all way stop sign.
  • 82nd & Avenue P - new stop light.

The commission also approved an intersection near Centennial Elementary:

  • Kemper & North Utica - all way stop sign.

Also, the Lubbock Police Department reports that traffic fatalities inside city limits are down for this time of year.

  • 2006 - 14 fatalities.
  • 2007 - 7 fatalities.
