The Board of Trustees of the Lubbock Independent School District voted Wenesday morning to extend a 3 percent cost of living increase to the 3,585 District employees.
The State provided about $1 million in funds for an educator pay increase and the District will pick up the tab for the remaining $3 million from local funds.
"The legislature provided a modest increase in funding targeted for educator raises," said Gordon Wilkerson, Lubbock I.S.D. School Board President. "The additional state funding is equivalent of about one percent or $400 for every teacher, counselor, librarian and nurse that the district has employed."
To be eligible, each person must be employed by the school district for at least one year.
