Olton really epitomizes the meaning of community. Newschannel 11 discovered several examples of citizens coming together to revive the city or help each other out.
In 1984, a group of Olton residents decided to build the town's first nursing homes. It took them 8 years to raise money and seek funding but finally in 1993, Runningwater Draw Care Center opened. The non-profit nursing home now has 75 beds and rarely has a vacancy.

The town did it all over again, just 7 years later and raised money to open a sister facility. The Sandhills Village Assisted Living Center opened in 1999 with sixteen rooms.
