New developments in the death of an Abernathy woman. Police found Nadine Rogers, 78, dead inside her home early Tuesday morning, and NewsChannel 11 now knows her accused killer lived next door.
Investigators charged Jose Tanguma, 20, with capital murder Tuesday night. He remains in the Hale County Jail, expected to be arraigned Wednesday morning.
Investigators tell us Tanguma lived right across the street from Rogers' home in the 1000 Block of 14th Street.
Police found Rogers dead inside her home just before 5:00 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators aren't releasing any details about the crime scene, except for calling it a violent crime. We do know that the victim's car was not at her home when police arrived, suggesting robbery may have been a motive behind this killing.
Family members say Rogers was a kind loving person, who would do anything for anyone, and right now, they're shocked that this happened. They say they're letting police do their job, and they plan to make a statement later on in this investigation.
