Floydada little leaguers are playing in a new field this summer thanks to Ace Hardware. Ace's helpful hardware man Lou Manfradini, along with his crew, made a stop in Floydada to give their little leaguers some new digs.
"We came to Floydada, Texas as part of our Fields for the Future program." Laura Farris owns Floydada's local Ace hardware store and she played a big role in this. That's because the local stores nominate their little league associations in the national contest. Farris says, "We want to benefit the kids that play little league baseball and Ace gave $5,000 to our league," Manfradini said.
Floydada is one of five national winners that got the money and a visit from Lou and his crew.
"I'm doing my best Clint Eastwood to keep everybody working and trying to get as much accomplished in the one day that we're here," Manfradini said.
Manfradini was only in town one day, so it was an eight hour push to get all of the projects completed.
"We took some of the dugouts that were leaning and kind of in disrepair and we're also doing some painting to spruce the place up and with the volunteers we have here, it looks like we're going to get it all done," Manfradini said.
