Community Coverage: Mentoring Ralls Youth

The Ralls community is very supportive of its youth. One of many programs aimed at educating and mentoring kids is the Ralls I.S.D. "Edge" mentoring program.

The Edge is an after-school program that matches volunteers with students so they can build relationships with them in an effort to reduce problems like teen pregnancy and drugs.

"Every child needs one more adult in their life, and that's what our goal is," Edge project director Selenda Cumby said.

The Edge also offers a number of classes for children, like gymnastics, cooking and crafts. It is funded by a federal grant.

The U-Turn Youth Center keeps kids in Ralls from taking a wrong turn.

The Liberty Rock Church provides the outreach center which has basketball, paintball, video games and more.
