After beating Oklahoma City on Saturday, but missing out on the playoffs, the Lubbock Renegades assumed their inaugural arena season was over.
However, NewsChannel 11 Sports has learned the Renegades may actually still make the postseason.
Head Coach Rodney Blackshear was on the phone Monday afternoon calling all of his players and telling them not to leave town because they may live to play another day.
Due to a league technical matter, Renegades officials were informed at 2:03 Monday afternoon the team still had a chance to make the playoffs, now they'll have to wait until Tuesday to confirm their postseason status.
A conference call will be held Tuesday with all of the AF2 governors from each team. No time is set for the call, however they will vote to determine if the Renegades are in or not.
There's no word on which team or teams have been affected by the technical issue and what spot the Renegades would take if granted entrance into the postseason.
Of 172 playoff scenarios, it was scenario #117 that played out with Oklahoma City taking the 7th seed and Alabama the 8th.
The Renegades are hopeful their season will continue, and NewsChannel 11 Sports will keep you informed.
