Lubbock Teen Jailed for Intoxicated Assault

A Lubbock teen is behind bars, facing intoxicated assault charges after he allegedly struck an east Lubbock pedestrian.

According to Lubbock Police, Ramon Ponce Cerna, 19, struck Zakari Wadley, 21, at east Broadway and Martin Luther King Boulevard just after 3 a.m. Sunday. Cerna then fled the scene. Authorities arrested him later at 3rd Street and Beech Avenue.

EMS took Wadley to University Medical Center, where his condition remains unavailable.

As of Monday afternoon, Cerna remains in the Lubbock County Jail. He faces several charges, including intoxicated assault and failure to stop and render aid.
