It was an exciting day for the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as they surpassed a major milestone.
"We're very excited," said Jelaine Workman, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Texas Plains. "Javier (and his) family are from Denver City, and we're just very excited to be able to honor him as our 1,000th wish recipient."
Javier, 17, was diagnosed with A.M.L. less than a year ago. It is a form of leukemia. Right now, the teen spends a lot of time going through treatment.
"He wanted to have a laptop computer and several games, so that when he goes to treatment, he can have the computer to go with him," Workman said.
Javier also intends to use his new laptop when he heads off to college next year.
