Passerby Discovers Fatal Rollover in South Lubbock County - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A Lubbock driver is dead, after a rollover in South Lubbock.

A passerby spotted the red Ford Escort after it had overturned in a field at 114th and University, about 6:45 Friday morning. When Lubbock Sheriff's Deputies and DPS troopers arrived on scene, it was already too late. Phillip Thomas, 50, was pronounced dead, just after seven.

Authorities have determined that accident happened sometime after midnight. They also say  Thomas lost control of his vehicle before crossing 114th Street, therefore the Lubbock Police Department will take over the investigation.

Investigators found alcohol at the scene, however they have not yet determined if it played a role in the crash.
