Despite a worldwide recall, thousands of contact lens wearers continue to use an eye solution that my be linked to serious eye infections.
That's according to a survey by the Centers for Disease Control. That agency found more than half the nation's contact lens wearers were unaware of the recall and were still using the stuff because that's what they had at home.
The recalled product is Complete Moistureplus Lens Cleaner. So, if you have that at home throw it away. The lens cleaner was apparent unable to protect some soft lenses from a certain bacteria.
According to federal health officials, more than 25 percent of the contact lens users who developed an infection after using moisture plus lens cleaner ended up needing a corneal transplant.
