Future Doctors Take Part in White Coat Ceremony

Friday was an important evening for dozens of future doctors in Lubbock.

First year medical students who will graduate in the class of 2011 took part in the traditional white coat ceremony late Friday afternoon at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. You know, the white coat is the hallmark of health care, and this event is a rite of passage to students who put that coat on and take an oath to uphold the highest standard of ethics as they work their way through medical school.

This new class includes 140 medical students, mostly from Texas, but some from as far away as Virginia, Idaho and even Japan. And one name might seem extra familiar around here... Janeen Leach is the daughter of Red Raider football coach Mike Leach.
