The Lubbock City Council met this morning for City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld's presentation of the 2007-2008 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement program.
Dumbauld does not recommend a rate increase in the water rate, sewer rate, storm water rate and garbage fee for the coming year .
The city's sales tax revenue is forecast to increase 4.4 percent. That will fund 21 new firefighters, two new deputy fire chiefs, and two fire marshals. It will also fund the two police officers per 1,000 citizens.
Dumbauld does recommend a 2% cost of living increase for all city employees, and an additional 1% for firefighters.
And finally, the property tax rate is expected to remain at 46.199, if adopted by the Lubbock City Council.
NewsChannel 11 will break down what this will mean for the average Lubbock citizen, tonight on NewsChannel 11 at Six.
