Driver Jumps From Moving Vehicle During Police Chase

A woman is hospitalized after she jumped from her moving vehicle during a police chase through north Lubbock Tuesday morning.

It began as police tried to pull the woman over for a traffic stop shortly before 2:00 a.m. She eventually jumped from her SUV in the 2700 block of Duke Street and tried to run on foot as her vehicle plowed through a chain link fence. She didn't get very far.

Police took Chonita Palomarez, 29, to the hospital. She is recovering from her injuries. Charges are expected.
