A Lubbock nurse is charged with stealing prescription drugs from a Snyder nursing home, and NewsChannel 11 has learned the alleged incident happened during her first day on duty.

Snyder police arrested Amanda Lynn Bell, 26, early Tuesday morning. Bell was on her first shift at Snyder Oaks Care Center, when workers discovered some medication was missing.

Investigators tell us Bell was an agency nurse, and not an employee of the care center, though she did have keys to the drug room.

When officers arrived on scene, she appeared to be intoxicated, leading police to believe Bell may have taken some of the drugs herself.

Bell was released Wednesday on a $5,000 bond.

Bell has worked for other facilities in the area. Now departments in those communities are checking to see is she may be connected to other prescription drug thefts.
