All eyes are on Waco this Friday night. That's because a win there puts the Lubbock Western All-Stars in the Little League World Series.
Lubbock will play against the All-Stars from Roswell, New Mexico at 7 p.m. Friday night.
No team from Lubbock has ever made it this far, so it's very exciting for a group of young men who we've been following for the last 3 years hoping they'd get this one shot at the Little League World Series.
Lubbock Western has run through all competition at district, state, sectionals and the region...but so has Roswell. Both teams also have powerful offenses and their ace pitchers on the mound
For Lubbock Western that's Garrett Williams who's been clocked at 78 miles per hour and he's been mowing down most batters.
With a packed crowd in Waco and a national television audience watching, imagine the excitement and pressure these 11 and 12-year-olds are feeling.
Lubbock Western's record is 17-0, while Roswell's is 12-0. Western has crushed opponents outscoring them 320-12 while Roswell has beaten every team but 1 by 10 runs.
They've faced 2 common opponents in the regional at Waco, each team winning their respective games.
As for those pitchers, Williams has stuck out 24 in 10 innings of work at the Regionals giving up 1 run on 2 hits, while Roswell's Austin Radar last threw a no-hitter on Monday.
NewsChannel 11 is in Waco with the team and you'll hear from them tonight on the news at 6
On a side note, NewsChannel 11 is told several teams that Western has beaten, including Texas East and Louisiana, are going to Friday's game to cheer for Western.
