There is new hope out of Austin for community colleges across the state including South Plains College.
Back in June, NewsChannel 11 told you South Plains College was considering raising tuition and fees to off set a big cut in state funding. Governor Rick Perry vetoed $154 million dollars to state community colleges.
Late Tuesday evening, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst announced that he met with the Senate Higher Education Subcommittee and he hopes the group and Governor Perry can work together to move toward a solution in the coming weeks.
