Roller Coasters & Your Heart

Thrill seekers may need to check their heart before going to an amusement park where they could be tempted by a roller coaster.

The study in the Journal of the American Medical Association finds some of the fastest and most thrilling rides can make the heart speed up to 155 beats a minute and lead to heart rhythm changes that could be dangerous in some people.

The researchers say, for the most part, roller coasters should not be a problem for healthy people. But it would be wise to know your heart is healthy before you try a ride.
