The Tax Free Holiday begins in Texas at midnight. And Lubbock stores are stocked and staffed to handle the extra customers come Friday morning.
All weekend, shoppers can purchase clothes, shoes and backpacks priced under $100, tax free.
State Representative Carl Isett helped kick off the annual holiday at Academy Sports Thursday morning.
"By calling a holiday on this sales tax, we're able to reduce the amount of money we bring into the state, and not have to worry about how to try to give it back," Isett says. "We just give it back ahead of time."
Shoppers can even take advantage of the tax-free shopping online.
