A Lubbock pastor plans on appealing his sentence. Thursday, a Lubbock jury sentenced Royce Jimenez to eight years in prison. Wednesday, the same jury found him guilty on four counts of indecency with a child.

Jimenez was a pastor at the Light of the World Christian Center when he was arrested last May. Jurors determined Jimenez was guilty of molesting a 6-year-old boy on several occasions. On the stand this week, Jimenez proclaimed his innocence and while the jury heard his testimony, they were not allowed to hear the results of lie detector tests.

John Allen spoke on behalf of the Jimenez family Thursday. Allen said, "Mr. Jimenez passed not one, not two, not three, but five lie detector tests. None were allowed in court. We will appeal it and we have no harsh words for that family."

Jimenez could have gotten as little as probation or as much as 20 years in prison. The eight year sentence means he will be eligible for parole in four years.

Prosecutor Jennifer Bassett said, "In cases like this, there's no win, no win at all and the victim is still affected. The sexual molestation still occurred."

The victim's parents released this statement, "As parents it is our responsibility to raise and protect our children. Family is first and in our children's eyes, we are their heroes. Our children will always see us as super mom and super dad. So to all the parents, never stop believing your children."
