Child Pornography, Mail Theft & Robbery Among Grand Jury Indictments

Police found more than 1,000 photos of child porn on his computer and over 45 videos. Now, Kenneth Douglas Baker faces up to eighty years in prison and a $1 million fine. Friday, a federal grand jury indicted Baker on four counts of receipt of child pornography. Monday, he pleaded not guilty.

An undercover investigation into an Ohio man led police to an AOL subscriber at 3609 90th Street in Lubbock who turned out to be Baker. Baker entered a not guilty plea but in court documents stated the ratio of pornography on his computer is 60% child and 40% adult." A trial has been set for October. '

Three Lubbock women are accused of stealing mail out of various mailboxes around town. Some of that mail contained checks for thousands of dollars. A federal grand jury indicted both Lauren Garza and April Marie Canales for possession of stolen mail. 

Gloria Jean Simmons has been indicted on federal charges of possession of stolen mail. In addition, a Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted her on charges of forgery and fraudulent possession of identifying information.

Tuesday afternoon, a Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted BJ Petty for the July 26th robbery at the Diamond Shamrock at 19th and Milwaukee.

A second aggravated robbery indictment was handed to Steven White. This one is in connection with the robbery at the Dollar General on 34th Street. Two weeks ago, he was indicted for the robbery at the 50th Street Dollar General.

Finally, a Lubbock County Grand Jury indicted Anthony Soria on two counts of aggravated robbery, one for the July 20th robbery at the Lone Wolf Café and the other for a July 21st robbery at Long John Silver's.
