It was Citibus, not the tax rate, the public wanted to discuss at a Thursday night public hearing.
Since 2003, Citibus has lost nearly $2 million in federal funds. Citibus hasn't increased their fares since 1996, and now they're asking the city for $561,000 to make up those costs.
Here are some of riders reactions during the meeting.
"I urge the council to vote for funds to maintain current Citibus night and Saturday schedules as an essential priority," one Lubbockite said.
"I urge you to try to find some other way to fund Citibus other than cutting services," a second Lubbockite said.
"If they cut the funds, I don't know what I would do," another Lubbockite added.
No decision was made about funding at the hearing.
