If you stepped outside early this morning, you might have seen the moon disappear behind the Earth's shadow.

The total eclipse of the moon was visible throughout North and South America, though scientists say those on the west coast got the best view.

This is the second lunar eclipse of 2007. The next one will take place next year, on February 21.
