Person of Interest in Merimon Case Terminated from Lubbock State School

The person of interest in the murder of a Lubbock woman and the disappearance of another has been terminated from his employment at the Lubbock State School.

Earlier this month, NewsChannel 11 discovered that your tax dollars have been funding the salary of this man. He had been paid more than $44,000 since he was put on paid administrative leave more than a year ago.

In April 2007, Lubbock Police called this person of interest, a suspect in the case.

NewsChannel 11 took that information to Texas Representative Delwin Jones. Jones made a recommendation to Mental Health Mental Retardation of Texas, that the employee be put back to work or have his employment terminated.

The State has taken action in this case. This person's employment is terminated as of Friday, August 31.
