Tailgaters Set Up Outside Jones AT&T Stadium Friday

Kick-off for the first Texas Tech home game of the season is Saturday. Dedicated fans started staking claims on their tailgating spots Friday afternoon. Dark clouds started moving into the area, but fans say they aren't too worried. The fans say they can't wait for college football to get underway in Lubbock this season.

Texas Tech fan Jerry Thormahlan says, "I'm looking forward to the excitement of the students being back in town and seeing Tech play at home and seeing them get another victory."

Texas Tech alumni Matt Beatty drove in from Austin to attend Saturday's game. He says, "We are still waiting on a Big 12 championship. We're still waiting on winning the south and this may be the year to do it."

Texas Tech is trying to break an attendance record and several thousand tickets are still available and will be on sale at the gate.

Kick-off is at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. The Red Raiders face the University of Texas at El Paso Miners. If you don't have reserved parking, Texas Tech is encouraging fans to print of a parking map, because there are some changes due to construction. You can find a link to that map by clicking here.
