Lubbock Soldier Learning to Walk Again

On the anniversary of 9/11, we've learned that President Bush is expected to withdraw some American troops from Iraq.

The president is expected to announce his plans in a prime time address this Thursday night. In that address, he will reportedly reduce troops by as many as 30,000 by next summer.

NewsChannel 11 also has some good news to report. A Lubbock soldier that was injured in Iraq is doing much better.

About four months after an explosive device forced doctors to amputate his leg, Jason Bates is walking.

The Bates family sent NewsChannel 11 some pictures showing the Monterey High School graduate is now fitted with an artificial leg and is learning to walk all over again.
