One Fatal Accident, and Two Overnight Accidents Send Two to the Hospital

New details are emerging about a fatal accident out of Hockley County. The accident happened around 5 a.m. on Kelly Rd. in between FM 300 and TX. Rd. 114. DPS investigators tell us a 2007 Mack Truck, pulling a trailer  was the only vehicle involved in the accident. The subject was from Levelland. Authorities are waiting to notify next of kin before they release the name. We'll continue to follow this story and bring you the updates as soon as they are made available to us.

Plus, two separate accidents caused two people to be hospitalized Thursday morning. They occurred just minutes apart from each other. It started around 1 a.m. Thursday morning when a 23-year-old man lost control of his truck and hit a tree at the intersection of South Loop 289 and Quaker. He was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Police believe alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.

Just minutes later, a 17-year-old female driver rolled her car on the shoulder of Woodrow Road, near County Road 1740 just west of Frankford. The four door Saturn landed in a field. Heather Wilburn told DPS investigators that she saw an animal run across the road and swerved to miss it, losing control of her vehicle. Wilburn was treated for minor injuries.
