Rockin' For Danny Benefit Concert Sunday

Five Lubbock bands are coming together to benefit one great cause! All proceeds will benefit the family of Danny Beal, a victim of cancer.

Danny was diagnosed in May 2004, with Stage IV Adenocarcinoma of Unknown Primary. Later, doctors discovered the cancerous cells were being released by his appendix.

Throughout his courageous battle with this terrible disease, Danny remained positive. He loved the great outdoors, and continued his camping trips in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. If roughing-it was his goal, then the rougher the better.

He was also a member the South Plains Bowhunters Association. Danny was so good at his craft, that he could fire an arrow into a bull's eye, and then use another arrow to split that one in two.

For many months, he and his wife wore LiveStrong bracelets, as they travelled back and forth to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Danny and Michelle had only just begun their lives together, so they hoped and prayed for a miracle. But it was not to be.

After numerous hospital stays and surgeries, doctor's ceased their heroics, and shifted their focus to making Danny comfortable. At more than six feet tall, Danny's body quickly grew weaker. This "man's man" could no longer stand, let alone - hunt. And his booming baritone voice grew frail.

Danny's family and friends urged him to "push the button." A dose of morphine would take the pain away. But Danny refused the drug, not wanting to miss a single moment.

The next morning, on his mother's birthday - July 12th, God stopped the pain, and took Danny with Him.

Michelle is dealing with her pain, one day at a time. Cancer took her husband, and left her with a mountain of medical bills.

The South Plains Bowhunters Association organized a benefit garage sale in July, to help ease some of that worry. And it was a great success.

Now, a huge benefit concert aims to assist the family even more, and bring cancer awareness to the forefront. The American Cancer Society will be on hand, as well.

Please join us on September 16th, for a rockin' tribute to Danny Beal.
