If you pass by the downtown area on your way to work, you might catch the scent of BBQ.
Close to 60 teams stayed up all night Wednesday grilling and cooking their meats to perfection for Thursday evening's Giant Side of Texas BBQ Cook Off.
If you do not have any dinner plans Thursday evening you should head downtown to Broadway and Avenue L for the annual chamber BBQ. This year 60 teams are competing in the Giant Side of Texas BBQ Cook Off.
There are a number of divisions including corporate, professional, specialty and amateur/student.
Lubbock Chamber of Commerce President, Eddie McBride promises an all around good time.
"Today's fun events are going to be an opportunity for the community to not only come out and eat delicious BBQ but to also network and have a good family outing," says McBride.
The chamber BBQ starts at 5:00 p.m. Thursday evening and goes until 9:00 p.m. The Hogg Maulies and Luke Olson will perform.
Tickets for adults are $15 at the door , $10 for students and kids under five are free.
