Up to 75% of American adults have some form of periodontal disease. According to the Journal of Clinical Dentistry, a new high-tech toothpick may help put a dent in that number. They're called brushpicks.
Brushpicks are flexible plastic toothpicks with a little three-sided blade on one end and bristles on the other. You just slip an end between your teeth to remove food and plaque, and use the bristles to massage your gums.
The report says brushpicks can reduce Gingivitis and bleeding gums better than flossing and pose less of a threat to existing dental work. You can find the brushpicks at Wal-Mart, Eckerds, and Walgreens.
