At 7 p.m. Monday, country star Jack Ingram performed the first of two shows live at the Fair Park Coliseum at the 90th Panhandle South Plains Fair.
Late Monday afternoon, Ingram performed a sound check and invited a few South Plains College and Lubbock area high school students to the event. The Grammy Foundation and Verizon offered the special sound checks with artists in tours around the country. Ingram is a Texas native and says he's excited to play for fans on The South Plains.
"We're going to have a good time out here. I've been coming to Lubbock for a long time, started out playing at Stubbs BBQ, 19th Street Depot Warehouse and Wild West and we've played every place in town and we're going to have a good time tonight too," Ingram said.
Jack Ingram will perform a second show at 9 p.m. Both concerts are free to the public, courtesy of KLLL.
KLLL is sponsoring another show Saturday night at 7:30pm featuring country artists Andy Griggs with Candy Coburn.
