New Test For Diabetes in Children

Children with type one diabetes are constantly pricking their fingers to check their blood sugar. But now, researchers say instead of a blood test, they may be able to determine their blood sugar with a simple breath test.

The study at the University of California at Irvine found that kids with the disease had significantly higher levels of nitrates in their breath when their sugar was high -- a signal they need more insulin.

So, the experts are hopeful that more studies will confirm that it may be just as accurate to check for sugar levels by breath, instead of blood.
