County Commissioners Expected to Settle Boom Boom Cabaret Lawsuit

Lubbock County Commissioners are expected to settle a lawsuit with a local strip club Monday.

The dispute between the Boom Boom Cabaret and Lubbock County began back in January when the county stripped the club of its sexually oriented business permit.

The city began requiring sexually oriented businesses to fill out renewal applications every two years.

The county denied a permit to Boom Boom, citing discrepancies on their applications.

The club appealed and continued operating as a bar with clothed dancers.

But then in June, Federal Judge Sam Cumming issued a temporary emergency in junction for the Boom Boom Cabaret which allowed nude dancing again at the club.

Judge Cummings said they should have been given more time to correct the errors on their application.

If a settlement is reached Monday morning, the Boom Boom Cabaret will get their operating permit back permanently.
