In Lubbock, cotton is king. But just to the northeast, there is another crop drawing people from all parts of the state.
Pumpkins are now ripe for the picking in Floydada. The town is also known as Pumpkin Capitol USA.
"Because we raise so many pumpkins and send so many out, we live up to that tradition," said Tim Assiter, a pumpkin farmer.
The tradition continues on Saturday, with the annual Punkin Day Festival. There will be plenty of crafts, games, and treats in the city square all-day long.
