Proposition 15 and Cancer Research

Texas Governor Rick Perry agrees that we need to continue to invest in cancer prevention and early detection. In fact, the Governor and former State Comptroller John Sharp were in San Antonio Monday to rally support for Proposition 15 in the upcoming November election.

If voters say yes, the proposal would allow Texas to issue $3 billion in bonds for cancer research during the next ten years.

"And I say that when, not if, this proposition passes, it will do several things. It will create the Cancer Prevention Research Institute, which will be dedicated to funding research and finding cures. It will allow the institute to issue $3 billion in bonds over a span of ten years, or 300 million per year towards finding a cure," said Texas Governor Rick Perry.

Perry also added we need Proposition 15 to keep our top doctors in Texas, because many are often lured to where there is more research money available.
