Levelland School Bus Collides with Vehicle, 1 Dead

NewsChannel 11 has learned that a school bus carrying Levelland's 9th Grade JV and Varsity Volleyball Team collided with a 2004 pickup on Farm to Market 385 at the Seminole cut-off this afternoon.

According to DPS Corporal John Gonzales, the two vehicles collided at 3:28 p.m. Tuesday. He said Brownfield resident Lloyd Yowell, 77, stopped at the intersection of FM 137 and FM 385, before pulling out in front of the school bus. Yowell was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Levelland Superintendent, approximately 30 students were on board and none were seriously injured. Four students were taken to the hospital by ambulance, but all are being evaluated at the emergency room in Brownfield as a precaution.

They teams were reportedly on their way to a volleyball game in Seminole.
