Atmos Energy has put the brakes on their new proposed rate structure. Lubbock City Council members were supposed to hear their plan Thursday, but in a surprise move, Atmos CEO Gary Gregory said he was not comfortable presenting the plan to council at this time.
Gregory said that he wants to look at several new ways to bill his customers, and needs more time to answer customer questions about the proposal.
Lubbock City Council members were caught off guard by his request.
"You had 90 days to come up with a new rate," said Councilman John Leonard. "I don't know why you need an extension any further if you're just going to change it at the last minute."
In the end, the Lubbock City Council granted their request for more time.
