Home Invasion Victim Dies

A Lubbock home invasion is now a homicide investigation.

Monty Dale Edler, 40, died Tuesday afternoon, just six days after he was injured in an apparent home invasion. Police found him lying outside the Westford apartments in the 5400 block of 40th Street last Thursday. Officers found a friend of his, injured nearby but that man has been treated and released from the hospital. Right now, the only suspect description police have is four black men.

That is the same description, the two victims in another home invasion gave just hours later. In that case, the four men bound two victims with duct tape, beat and robed them. That was at the Park apartments in the 5700 block of 50th Street.

Police do not know if the cases are related but if you have information in any crime, you're asked to call Crime Line. That number is (806) 741-1000.
